Pushpa 2 Review: Director Sukumar’s brilliance shines through in Pushpa 2: The Rule. He masterfully balances a mass entertainer with a film rich in social commentary, weaving layers of emotion, action, and intrigue into a compelling cinematic experience. Despite the extensive runtime of 3 hours and 20 minutes, the film keeps its audience riveted with a mix of high-octane sequences, character-driven moments, and a poignant emotional arc.

Sukumar doesn’t just focus on the grandeur of action; he incorporates subtle humour through the quirks and mannerisms of the characters, whether it’s Pushpa Raj, Banwar Singh Shekhawat, or the supporting cast. Each character has a distinct identity that enriches the story. Even when the film seems to linger towards the end, the emotional payoff in the climax redeems it, providing satisfying closure to Pushpa’s internal and external conflicts.

Allu Arjun ascends to a new echelon of his career with a transcendent performance. He is firmly in a "god zone," surpassing expectations and cementing his status as a force to reckon with in Indian cinema. The Jathara sequence is a landmark moment in his career, bound to be celebrated for years to come. Every aspect of his performance during this sequence—his physicality, emotional depth, and sheer energy—is awe-inspiring. The choreography, visuals, and editing amplify the impact of his performance, creating a euphoric high for audiences. In Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun proves yet again that he is not just a star but an artiste who redefines the boundaries of performance.

Rashmika Mandanna shines as Srivalli, moving beyond the archetype of a supportive partner. She becomes Pushpa’s emotional anchor, adding layers of resilience and warmth to the narrative. Her chemistry with Pushpa Raj captivates, and their peppy number Peelings is thoroughly entertaining, showcasing their dancing skills.

Fahadh Faasil is chillingly entertaining as Banwar Singh Shekhawat. His understated menace and simmering quest for respect create palpable tension in every scene he inhabits. As a formidable antagonist, he matches Allu Arjun’s intensity with a performance that commands attention.

Rao Ramesh and Jagapathi Babu bring depth to their roles as political leaders, adding intrigue and complexity to the narrative. The supporting cast, including Sunil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Saurabh Sachdeva, Tarak Ponnappa, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Brahmaji, Ajay, Kalpa Latha, Pavani Karanam, Sritej and Divi Vadthya, ensures the world of Pushpa remains immersive.

The film’s technical excellence is remarkable and a step up from the first instalment. Mirosław Kuba Brożek’s cinematography vividly captures the vibrant chaos of the forest, the intensity of the action, and the emotional nuances of quieter moments. Scene transitions are seamless, and the framing of shots is exquisite. Devi Sri Prasad’s music elevates the narrative, with tracks like Sooseki and Kissiki blending into the storytelling. The background score complements the film’s tone, while the action choreography balances grit and grandeur, offering a visual treat.

Though the film has its flaws—like, a not-so-strong story and over-the-top action sequences—its smart screenplay, brilliant performances, and top-notch production values overshadow these drawbacks.

Pushpa 2: The Rule is a sequel that surpasses its predecessor in scale, storytelling, and emotional depth. Sukumar’s vision, combined with Allu Arjun’s powerhouse performance, layered narrative, breathtaking visuals, and stellar ensemble cast, makes it a cinematic triumph that demands to be experienced on the big screen.

Stree 1 Reviews: I just came back after watching Stree. I saw the 2nd-day evening show. Well, undoubtedly it’s a good and entertaining movie.

I saw it’s trailer around last month and was really impressed. The film has equal amounts of comedy and horror. Neither of the two genres tries to override each other. There is a perfect balance of everything.

Apparently, from what I read from Internet sources, it is based on the infamous Na-le-ba witch lore which gripped the streets of Bangalore in the 90s. However, in the movie location is set somewhere else. If you think the movie is entirely based on and sticks to the original lore, then-No. The movie has its own strong and unique presence. The lore of Na-le-ba provides the base for the film.
The film’s set you’ll see is quite befitting the theme and idea the movie wants to convey. The background scores add the audio inputs making the scenes and set more convincing to the horror theme the movie is based on.

The night shots/scenes are particularly beautiful and scary at the same time. Also, a comic scene in that environments brings out a whole new flavor that doesn’t let you feel bored or scared. That’s a big advantage, this movie packs.

Actors/Acting

Lead actors and supporting actors are really good and profesional. They do not overdo anything. Rajkummar Rao is brilliant. Very natural acting to which a common guy or in general the public will connect to. His plays a skeptical youth and a usual guy mad in love. His screen presence and moment-of-the-film are quite good. I can assure you this, last evening while watching this movie in the hall, in certain scenes, people loudly clapped and applauded his performance.

Shraddha Kapoor is too cute and executes her role perfectly. She manages the mysterious yet beautiful presence of her character quite well. There’s a lot more to her character than what you initially see in the trailer, the initial phase of the movie or what you get to see in the climax. Her wardrobe was simplistic yet appealing throughout the movie. If you’re a girl audience watching the movie it will definitely catch your eye for sure.

In the supporting act, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee are damn good. One of the duos plays a smart, calculative, alert and “This sounds too good to be true” guy while the other is a bit nerdy yet doesn’t really gets too calculative of apparent shady happenings.
The lead guy and his best friends duo share a great bond of friendship which has a good showcase in the movie. The comic scenes involving the trio is really hilarious.

A great reason I went to watch the movie was for Pankaj Tripathi. He is superb as always. His comic timings in the movie are impeccable. His role stands out. People in the hall laughed out loud everytime he executed his comic scenes. Brilliant acting by Pankaj Ji. In another important supporting character, you’ll see popular comic actor Vijay Raaz who provides a brief comic relief but his role is quite short.
Again, in the movie, we also see TV and movie veteran Atul Shrivastava who is perfect for his role and executes it fairly well. I always liked his acting. He brings out the emotions quite naturally. His comic timings in the movie are good too. His role is not too short but not too long as well.

Moments

The film is basically a tale that revolves around 4 nights of a certain festivity. As you will watch the movie, you will feel the four nights has an allusion to the 4th night in Indian marriages. No this is not some pun, but if you think, you will have a feel of this fact, but it’s a funny allusion.
In the movie, you will see two kinds of horror scenes. The first one is where a horror kind of build-up is happening, slow and intense, but the outcome is something rib-tickling hilarious and comical. While in the second situation, the outcome is horror. There is a subtle balance between both.
If you are thinking of witnessing jump scare moments, then yes there are such moments but not in plenty as we have a comic genre interweaved with the movie as well. Besides if you watch a regular horror movie or movies in general, you can expect the timings of the small jump-scare moments. I mean it’s kind of predictable. Sometimes jumpscares end up on a comical note as well.

Climax

However, the screenplay and plot are really clever. The climax will catch you off-guard. Now read this important part carefully.
You will see two climax scenes in the movie. In the first climax, everything you saw in the trailer and the initial part of the movie will falsify your assumptions.. !! YES..there you go.. Caught you off guard right..?!

Then there will be another shocker, the second climax towards the end which will make you rethink and replay the whole movie in mind. It will totally make you go “wait..!! WTF..?!?”
You will have a feeling that movie will have a usual ending as per the genre goes but the actual outcome is very different than usual.
The movie does deliver a good message. This you will realize after You finish watching it. Again, it depends on what kind of mentality you have and what exactly you perceived from the film.

At some points, I felt that a few scenes were a bit more bollywoodish, the typical filmy logic kind of stuff. Thankfully, it is not overdone. One example could be the first ever meet-up of the lead pair, it is quite something a common man/audience may not connect to as it doesn’t happen in real life that way. Well, on a contradicting note, they may connect to it as well because it’s Bollywood.

Also, at the end of the movie during credit rolls, there is a song which I believe is really unnecessary. I mean it’s a good and entertaining song but it is quite uncalled for. When the movie ends at particular horror(more of a thrillerish) note with gloomy piano music in the background then suddenly you see all the characters doing a peppy dance number together. Kind of immediately kills the vibe of the movie that kept you hooked to the chair.

If you ask me a rating for the movie, then out of 5 stars I will rate this 3.5. It is really entertaining and does not go by the genre thumb rules. Stree is a movie which will be really worth of the ticket you pay for. So, that’s it.

Stree 1 Reviews: Set in the mofussil town of Chanderi (Madhya Pradesh), this one delves into an urban legend featuring a female spirit, unimaginatively called as 'Stree', who visits the town during certain holy days of the year to prey on the town's men. Her modus operandi is sneaking up from behind and calling out to her victims by their name. If and when they turn, they're never seen again, except that their clothes are found at the very spot where they encountered this presence. To evade this evil spirit, the town's folk have a rather simple fix - painting a message on the exterior wall of their homes - "O Stree, Kal Aana."

The writing for this genre-bender is very good, especially in the dialogues department. Horror comedies nowadays are a rare offering in Hindi cinema and in that respect, Stree serves up a lot of thrills and spills. The small-town setting and the many jibes at horror film legends are hilarious. The funniest character in the film is Pankaj Tripathi's Rudra Bhaiya, a bookshop owner and Mr. Know-it-all, who guides Vicky and his friends on how to cope with Stree and her haunting act. Pankaj Tripathi's comic
timing is top notch and one of the veritable highlights of the film. Rajkummar's performance is just brilliant. He handles the many shades of comedy, horror and romance (in a brilliant throwback scene to Shah Rukh Khan) with great ease. Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee as the friends offer good comedic punches too. Shraddha Kapoor's character is a bit of an enigma. Even though the role is problematic, the actress does a fine job of maintaining an air of mystery.

Stree is ambitious as it also attempts taking a stab at patriarchy and tucks in subliminal messages about the unfair treatment meted out to women in general. But a horror-comedy about a chudail who is a case of unrequited love may not be the ideal platform to endorse this high moral ground.

Stree is still an entertaining film. This is an experimental comedy, that creates an eerie atmosphere and it manages to be funny and scary at the same time. Writers Raj and DK (who have directed films like Go Goa Gone, 99 and Shor In The City) bring in their trademark humour.

Tiger Nageswara Rao Reviews: 1st half was a really uncomfortable watch for me due to blatant objectification, sexualization and bad portrayal of female characters. 1st half paints Nagi as very unlikeable. Even with the first heroine and how her story ends has 0 emotional connect. VFX is video game level and not in a good way but I appreciate the ambition of the train sequence. I am not sure why would anyone enjoy the 1st half.

The 2nd half redeems the film majorly so contrary to popular opinion, I enjoyed 2nd half much more and it's bloody violent. Ravi Teja and Jisshu Sengupta deliver good performances. There is an insane misdirect in the 1st half between the two characters which is revealed in the 2nd half which shocked me. WTF. That completely changes how you view Nagi!

Jisshu Sengupta plays a nasty, disgusting character brilliantly. A vile man you'll love to hate.

In the 2nd half, Nagi is likeable, his real motivations are revealed, the characterization of the lead character is vastly improved and you are able to root for the lead character and in his cause by the end.

I love that they show something dramatic and immediately the film shows you the events that led to that dramatic moment. And it keeps happening. Like mini-flashbacks. When I say this film is violent, it bloody is. There is so much gore. Some of it can be really disturbing for family audience like the undressing of a woman for humiliation.

But the writing, story, characterizations, motivations, reveals, twists are much stronger in the 2nd half and it's all really great. I say it's worth it if you can tolerate the first hour. People might say its like Pushpa, KGF but for me, it was like Raees, haha, because Nagi is also a messiah for his people. Just on surface level. But it is a very different movie.

Nagi even manages to get to the PM for his cause to get noticed. Go for it. It's a well-made action film with a strong and emotional climax. I love that the prostitute kills the guy after he betrays her. Things like this redeem the first half and the film ends up with a very satisfying conclusion to the saga of Tiger Nageshwara Rao.
